ICW Fierce Females Review

By Calvin Berry

In front of a sold out Arches in Glasgow, ICW launched their new all-female wrestling promotion ICW Fierce Females in style.

With many new faces and some ICW regulars on the roster, Fierce Females entertained the sold out crowd with a show packed with action, entertainment and a great Last Woman Standing main event between Kay Lee Ray and Carmel.

The show started with ICW owner Mark Dallas welcoming everyone to the show and the first burlesque performance of the night before the in ring action began with Nicola Storm, who was accompanied to the ring by BMW taking on Fiona Frazer.

The crowd enjoyed winding Storm up and cheering any offence against her however Storm managed to take control and pick up the win after a Perfect Storm.

Up next was Bete Noire taking on Viper in what turned out to be a hard hitting brawl.

Noire put on a good performance however it was not enough to defeat the impressive Viper who pinned Noire to win after a face first electric chair drop. Viper looks like one to watch on future FF shows.

After another burlesque performance the in-ring action continued with Rhia O’Reilly taking on Holly Roccamora.

Rocamora had the fans on her side however O’Reilly dominated most of the match and picked up the win after hitting Rocamora with the Rhiajustment. Rhia didn’t seem content with the victory however and attacked Holly, choking her with an Irish flag before leaving as the crowd booed.

ICW regular Sara was out next but her music was interrupted by The Wee Man who berated Sara before introducing her opponent Erin Angel.

This was a fun match with the Wee Man getting involved a few times, once happily receiving a stinkface from Erin Angel.

Angel finally managed to pick up the win, pinning Sara after a moonsault.

After a break the action restarted with April Davids and Lisa Fury taking on The Owen Twins in a tag team match.

In a comedy match which entertained the crowd, the Owen Twins finally picked up the win after hitting Twin Trouble and pinning both Fury and Davids at the same time

ICW Sports Agent to the Stars Mr James R. Kennedy made an appearance next and berated the crowd before introducing his new client Kirsty Loveigh who was in action against Sakura Lilly.

After a back and forth match Lilly managed to pick up the victory over Loveigh, pinning to win after a flying bulldog.

The result did not impress Mr James R. Kennedy who berated Loveigh in front of the crowd and said she has a lot to do in the future to impress him and if she does not she will be fired.

It was time for the main event as Kay Lee Ray faced off against Carmel in a Last Woman Standing match with ICW’s Jack Jester as the special guest referee.

This was a great main event which managed to keep the action fast and exciting.

There was no going easy between the two as weapons like a kendo stick, a chair and even thumbtacks were used as the rivals brawled all over the Arches fighting for the victory.

Carmel finally managed to pick up the win under controversial circumstances.

After falling from the walkway both competitors  tried to crawl back in the ring as Jester counted them as they were down.

However as they were both in separate corners Jester could not see both at the same time and he missed Kay Lee Ray getting to her feet before she fell down again as he was focusing on Carmel getting back up and so awarded the victory to Carmel.

Kay Lee Ray did not take the defeat well and took out Carmel to end the show.

Fierce Females was an enjoyable show with a great main event that entertained the sold out crowd and was impressive  considering it was the first show!

The next Fierce Females show is not until next May but I would recommend going if you want to see proper female wrestling and not the 2-3 minutes you see every week in the big American companies.
